FAQs

Do I need boxing experience to join Sweat Science Studio?

1

No. Most members walk in with zero boxing background. Boxing Basics is built specifically for first-timers — stance, footwork, and punching form — and every class is coached, so you're never guessing what to do next.

What should I wear to a boxing class in Singapore?

2

There's no strict dress code. Comfortable activewear that lets you move freely works fine, and light trainers are recommended over running shoes for better footwork control.

Do I need to bring my own gloves and hand wraps?

3

No — hand wraps and gloves are available to borrow for your first sessions. Once you're training regularly, most members pick up their own pair for hygiene, but it's not required to start.

How early should I arrive for my first class?

4

About 15 minutes before your class starts. That gives you time to settle in, and the front desk team will walk you through the studio before your first round.

Is the first class really free?

5

Yes — the trial class is free with no obligation to sign up afterward. It's the easiest way to see if the coaching style and class format fit before committing to a membership.

How much does a boxing gym membership cost in Singapore?

5

At Sweat Science Studio, unlimited monthly membership is $240/month, or $645 for three months. If you don't want a recurring commitment, drop-in credits are available at $40/class (5-pack) or $35/class (10-pack). Compared to the wider Singapore boxing and Muay Thai market — where boutique studios generally run $250–$390/month — this sits at the lower-to-mid end for CBD-located, unlimited-access training.

What's the difference between a membership and class credits?

6

Membership gives unlimited access to all group classes plus open gym time, and works out cheaper per session if you're training 2–3x a week consistently. Class credits are pay-as-you-go and suit people with irregular schedules who can't commit to a fixed weekly routine.

What's the minimum membership length?

7

The 1-month membership auto-renews monthly until cancelled, with no fixed lock-in term beyond that.

Can I freeze or pause my membership?

8

Yes — memberships can be frozen for up to two weeks for travel, injury, or similar circumstances.

Are your prices GST-inclusive?

9

Sweat Science Studio is not GST-registered, so no GST is added to the listed prices — the prices you see are what you pay.

How much are private 1-on-1 sessions with a boxing coach?

10

Private sessions with Coach Hafiz start at $120 for a single session, dropping to $110/session on a 4-pack and $100/session on an 8-pack. These suit members who want faster technique correction or are training toward a specific goal.

What boxing classes does Sweat Science Studio offer?

11

Four: Boxing Basics (beginner fundamentals), Skills & Drills (intermediate combinations and defence), Boxing Flow (all-levels movement and rhythm), and Sweat Science HIIT (boxing-based conditioning, no partner needed). All run 50 minutes and are coached by Hafiz, a 3x Singapore National Boxing Champion.

How big are the classes?

12

Sweat Science Studio runs boutique-sized group classes, not the 80-person floor you'll find at a large commercial gym — the format is built around a higher coach-to-member ratio so technique actually gets corrected during the session.

Is there sparring or contact in regular classes?
How big are the classes?

13

Regular group classes are technique- and pad-based, not sparring-focused — you're working combinations, defence, and conditioning without taking contact. This is part of why the studio attracts people who want the physical and mental benefits of boxing without the bruises.

How is boxing different from Muay Thai or BJJ?

14

Short version: boxing is hands-only striking with heavy emphasis on footwork and head movement; Muay Thai adds elbows, knees, and clinch work; BJJ is entirely grappling with no striking. Which one suits you depends on your goals and risk tolerance — we've broken this down in more detail in:

Boxing vs Muay Thai vs BJJ: Which Martial Art is Right for You in Singapore?

Is boxing a good workout for weight loss and fitness?

15

Yes — a 50-minute boxing class combines cardio, strength, and coordination work, and Sweat Science HIIT in particular is built around high-intensity rounds and circuits for conditioning. Results depend on consistency more than any single class, which is part of why the 3-month membership tends to show the clearest technique and fitness gains.

Are the classes suitable for women with no combat sports background?

16

Yes. Classes are technique-first and non-contact, and more women train at the studio than most people expect walking in. The format is built for all fitness levels, not just people with a martial arts background.

What age can kids start boxing classes?

17

Kids boxing classes are open from age 7 and up, coached by the same 3x Singapore National Boxing Champion who runs the adult programme, with a focus on discipline, focus, and confidence in a structured, safe environment.

Where is Sweat Science Studio located?

18

42C North Canal Road, Level 4, Singapore 059298 — a 3-minute walk from Clarke Quay MRT (NE5), Exit E.

What are your opening hours?

19

Monday & Friday: 7.30am–9pm. Tuesday–Thursday: 12pm–9pm. Weekends: 9.30am–2.30pm.

Are there shower facilities?

20

Yes — showers and changing rooms are on-site, so training before or after work doesn't mean going into the office sweaty or heading home without cleaning up first.

Is there parking nearby?

21

Parking is available at Clarke Quay Central, close to the studio.

22
